About Us

Maria Blumenfeld is the founder and managing member of Maria Blumenfeld Law, LLC. She concentrates her practice in the areas of immigration law and family law. Maria has helped hundreds of clients in their immigration and family cases. She has litigated by trial for clients in immigration court and state courts.

Maria has devoted her career to upholding and fighting for the rights of immigrants, children and families in the United States. Prior to founding Maria Blumenfeld Law, Maria dedicated her practice to serve as a public interest attorney at the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) where she focused on removal defense and asylum cases, representing unaccompanied immigrant children and formerly detained immigrant families.

In 2016, Maria was awarded the highly competitive Equal Justice Works Fellowship, and her program was sponsored by Microsoft and Reed Smith LLP. During her time with Equal Justice Works and NIJC, she not only provided legal services to hundreds of clients in immigration matters, but also recruited and trained pro-bono attorneys to represent asylum seekers, while working hand-in-hand with attorneys from Microsoft, Reed Smith, and others.

Because of her expertise, Maria is often invited to provide training to pro-bono attorneys working with unaccompanied immigrant children.

She has provided training on immigration matters in Illinois, Indiana and Connecticut. During this time, Maria also acquired extensive knowledge in family law, and provided training to attorneys representing families in family law matters throughout the state of Indiana. Maria also provides training to Indiana state court judges in cases dealing with immigrant children. Maria is licensed in the state of Indiana.

Maria lives in Michigan City, Indiana, with her family.
